Getting My Footing

So, I have been using Canva recently. I wanted to set up a Fiverr gig, and had no idea how to put together an image. I knew that I HAD to include something; I wouldn’t want to purchase something from a generic stock photo if I were a buyer. So I started out with an image I grabbed of myself while I was in a workshop. It was a teleconference type of thing, so I was already presentable and in front of the camera!

I was aware of Canva because my teenager uses the free version for her assignments. It is a pretty cool free tool! But, because I don’t really know what I am doing yet, the image I created still looked very amateur. After getting back my professional headshots, I just created a new gig photo, and I think it looks really good! Here is a link to my gig if you want to see it: https://www.fiverr.com/harleytaylorvo. I updated my photo, and some of the tags and metadata on my gig, and I already got 10 new impressions today! I know that is not a huge number, but it’s progress!

I am finding that doing a little research and working on small things everyday can genuinely help with building up my business. It is less stressful and feels more like a fun hobby than anything else. Especially since I am juggling my day job, a relationship with my husband, 2 kids and a dog! I know that there are many people who have done this before me. I am not disillusioned into thinking I am some unique case. I’m having fun, and hopeful that this blog will inspire someone one day!
